Ronald V. Miller Jr. represents people and families in serious injury lawsuits across the country, with a focus on mass torts, defective drug and medical device litigation, toxic exposure claims, sexual abuse cases, birth injury lawsuits, medical malpractice, and major motor vehicle accident cases.
National Injury Practice
Ron works with clients nationwide in cases involving catastrophic injuries, dangerous products, institutional failures, and corporate misconduct. His practice includes nationwide mass tort cases involving defective drugs, failed medical devices, toxic exposures, and other product liability claims. He also handles birth injury lawsuits, medical malpractice claims, sexual abuse litigation, and serious auto and truck accident cases.
Across these practice areas, Ron has helped clients recover millions of dollars through settlements and trial verdicts.
Experience on Both Sides of Pharmaceutical Litigation
Ron’s career gives him a perspective many injury lawyers do not have. After earning his bachelor’s degree in finance from Loyola College, he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the University of Baltimore Law Review and was elected to the Heuisler Honor Society.
Early in his career, Ron represented major pharmaceutical companies in litigation around the country, including companies such as Bayer and GlaxoSmithKline. That experience now helps him do the opposite: represent individuals and families harmed by large corporations, dangerous products, negligent health care providers, and institutions that failed to protect vulnerable people.
High Profile and Complex Cases
Ron has represented clients in high-profile and complex cases, including claims involving victims of the Columbine massacre in Colorado. His client list has included Michael Strahan of the New York Giants and Good Morning America, as well as David Meggett of the New England Patriots.
But most of Ron’s work is not about famous names. It is about helping ordinary people and families facing injuries that changed the course of their lives.
Author, Teacher, and Legal Malpractice Expert
Ron is also a legal author and educator. He is the co-author of Insurance Settlements, a two-volume treatise published by James Publishing on maximizing the value of personal injury cases. He has taught Insurance Law and Sports Law at the University of Baltimore School of Law for more than 28 years.
Ron has also written a three-part series about mediation and settlement strategy with a Circuit Court judge. Their work focused on practical ways lawyers can use mediation, negotiation, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution to move difficult cases toward resolution.
That writing reflects a major part of Ron’s approach to serious injury cases. Most high-value cases are not won by waiting for the other side to get reasonable. They are built through pressure, preparation, and a clear understanding of what drives defendants, insurers, and corporate risk managers to choose settlement as the better option. Ron’s work on mediation and settlement strategy helps inform how he prepares cases for trial while still positioning them for the strongest possible resolution before trial.
Ron has also served as an expert witness in legal malpractice cases, offering opinions on the standard of care for personal injury lawyers and the value of injury claims.
Awards and Attorney Ratings
Ron has earned what lawyers often call the “triple crown” of attorney ratings. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for plaintiffs’ personal injury litigation, selected for Super Lawyers, and received a 10.0 rating from Avvo.
He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a national organization limited to lawyers who have obtained million-dollar and multimillion-dollar verdicts, awards, and settlements.
A Different Perspective for Injury Victims
Ron’s work is built around one idea: people injured by powerful defendants need lawyers who know how those defendants think, how they defend cases, and how to build pressure for meaningful compensation. His background defending pharmaceutical companies, his work as a personal injury author and teacher, and his experience in national injury litigation all shape the way he evaluates and handles cases.
