Skechers U.S.A agreed to a $45 million settlement to resolve two class action lawsuits that claimed that Skechers toning footwear were falsely advertised to improve posture, promote weight loss, strengthen the back, improve blood circulation, promote sleep, reduce stress and burn calories.
This settlement gives eligible class members between $ 20 and $ 84 for each pair of shoes purchased, up to a total of $ 40 million. Oh, yeah, the lawyers get paid, too: $5 million.
Six other pending class actions with nearly identical allegations are still pending around the country. If Skechers resolved these two, you would think the others will fall in line as well.
