The CDC is reporting on a Salmonella outbreak in 19 states and the District of Columbia that has sickened 90 people. Exactly which states are involved has yet to be released.
Federal and state health officials are investigating the multi-state outbreak of Salmonella serotype Bareilly infections. The first case was reported on January 28th with the most recent report being received on Monday. It sounds as if the “cat was let out of the bag” when an internal memo was inadvertently sent to everyone at the FDA. The memo speculates sushi as a possible source of contamination, but the origins of the outbreak are not known at this time.
