Bumboo Chair Recall

Bumbo Baby Seats are back in the “hot seat” if you will. When we told you about this last, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) was warning parents, again, never to put Bumboo Baby Seats on tables, countertops, chairs or other raised surfaces, as infants aged 3-10 months old have fallen out of the Bumboo seat and suffered skull fractures, concussions and other serious injuries.

Announced yesterday was the recall of about four million Bumboo seats. In October 2007, a recall of approximately one million seats was issued, in order to provide additional warnings. There have been at least fifty reports of injuries since the 2007 recall, nineteen of which are for skull fractures.

Bumboo is now providing a free repair kit, which includes a seat belt. This may help children from falling out, but obviously not from tipping off a table. Common sense says don’t do this.
