A recent recall has been issued by Combi USA Inc.’s on their child safety seats. Three particular models – Coccoro, Zeus Turn and Zeus 360 – have been deemed incompatible with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act’s child restraint standards.
According to the company’s press release on Friday, the plastic button on the harness that prevents the buckle tongue from sliding into the recesses of the restraint does not mean the minimum breaking strength requirements.
So what should you do if you own one of these child safety seats? Well, according to Combi USA, you are advised to simply continue using the recalled product (!) and wait for a free repair kit where you can fix it the button yourself. I don’t know about you, but if someone were to tell me that my child’s seat could fail, I’m not going to continue using the seat while I wait for them to give me what I need to fix it. Sometimes these companies are out of touch with the realities of how irrationally insane concerned we parents can be about the safety of our children.
According to Combi USA Inc. there have been no reported injuries in connection to the recalled products. But, there is always a chance that there are situations not being reported.
