The National Beef Packing Co. in Kansas has announced the recall of approximately 50,000 pounds of beef due to an E. coli scare.
The recall affects NatureSource Natural Beef, Naturewell Natural Beef, and National Beef commodity ground beef with a “produced” date of July 18 and a “use by/freeze by” date of August 7. The meat was shipped in 40 to 60 pound cases to retailers, wholesalers and food service distributors nationwide – it is unclear whether it was sold at a retail level.
The recall is the second incident this summer for the company who recently recalled 22,000 pounds of beef in June over concerns about E. coli contamination. Thankfully, there have been no reports of injury as of yet.
